A new study on the investigation of the role of blockchain underpinned crypto-based incentives, and data capture will help improve patient health outcomes.
The innovative university in Kenya with advanced technology, MMUST along with a blockchain underpinned transformative and self-sustaining healthcare organization Immunity.Life has joined hands to facilitate MMUST’s research, and academic knowledge along with its modern tech network to will help solve the problems of patient relapses, and poor patient information collection, with a special focus on HIV-positive patients.
In the new study, it is observed that Immunity.Life and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), will use blockchain technology to design and store health-related information about patients, the transmission of data, and share processes along with treatment incentives that help to improve the health of Kenya’s HIV-positive patients.

The joint initiative of MMUST, and Immunity.Life is a five-year-long study to improve patient health outcomes and keep the roots of the Kenyan Healthcare system strong. The following will be achieved by designing clinical trials and studies in different locations across Kenya focusing on the key challenges of the healthcare system by some of the most vulnerable people in the country. The two institutions are determined to find accurate answers and identify the risks, causes, factors, and limitations faced by HIV-positive patients in minimizing the disease, receiving treatment, and availing the care and treatment.
One of the main features of the study commenced in August will use the token reward system of Immunity.Life to improve the treatment of HIV-positive patients. The approval of the Institutional Ethics Committee and the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Commission, and other relevant parties are granted to MMUST for using the technology platform of Immunity.Life for conducting the study.
Kenya has previously achieved several UNAID’s HIV 2020 goals and the country still has a long way to go especially in the areas of sustained and effective Antrietrovial treatment which is the primary and basic treatment for AIDS or HIV. Around 70% of adults are living with HIV in Kenya and can access their basic treatments. However, the treatment coverage for children under the age of fifteen is lower at a rate of 60%.
The MMUST, and Immunity.Life collaborative study will be conducted in Kakamega county where there is a high chance of infection and relapse rates in women, men, and children. This makes it a perfect location for a data-intensive and comprehensive study of AIDS or HIV along with the socioeconomic policies and challenges that resist people from obtaining the basic treatment that is available.

The main purpose of the first study that started in August is to examine the efficacy of incentives and digital tracking systems on HIV/AIDS procedure outcomes in the poor socio-economic environment of Kakamega County. Here are some of the main purposes of the collaborative study.
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is a tech-based innovative university in Kenya. With around seventeen students studying at the university, it aims at international collaboration. The university has a partnership with an NGO, “Save the Children Fund” and staffs around twenty-five people in 117 different countries around the world.
The team of Immunity.Life says that it aims to “change the system of health management and data utility” by powering global health networks and providing access to health information through an incentivized data capture technology created for Immunity.Life disease register site.
